Midlands Community Chapter #649 



The National Management Association was organized as an association of foremen by 
Charles Kettering, an outstanding automotive executive and engineer, in Dayton, Ohio, 
in 1925. The association has expanded to include all levels of management and is now 
the world's largest management association. The NMA is a national, nonprofit organization 
with chapters throughout the United States dedicated to the development and recognition of 
management as a profession. NMA membership provides opportunities to enhance community 
involvement, network with other professionals, develop leadership skills, and identify 
potential leaders. 



NMA Chapters devote time and effort to development of the management skills of their 
members. The national organization and the local chapters throughout the United States 
draw upon the vast reservoir of management knowledge within membership and from experts 
in a wide variety of fields to offer programs to inform members about the most current 
management theories and techniques.  



Policies and programs of the NMA are determined by a national board of directors 
representing large and small businesses, government, etc. National headquarters is 
located in Dayton, Ohio, and maintains a staff of professionals committed to serving 
all members and chapters. 



The Omaha Chapter was organized in February of 1989. On March 1, 2004, the Omaha Chapter 
#649 and the NMA Chapter #587 of the Midlands merged to become the Midlands Chapter #649. 
Membership is open to professionals in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area who are interested in 
developing or improving management skills. Annual dues are $72.
