Winners of 2016 NMA National Speech Contest

On September 9, 2016 four high school students joined us in New Orleans to compete in the National Level of the NMA Leadership Speech Contest. These finalists have advanced through the Chapter, Council, and Regional competitions.

At this level, the first place winner takes home a cash prize of $4,000! The second place winner takes home a cash prize of $1,000, and the (2) third place winners take home cash prizes of $500 each. Each of them delivered an excellent speech on the topic of “Leadership” to our conference attendees, and a panel of judges.

We’ll be posting a video in the next few weeks, so that you can hear their speeches for yourself.

Now, without further ado, I would like to announce the winners of the 2016 NMA National Speech Contest.

Our first place winner, and the recipient of a $4,000 prize is Raj Gambhir. Raj was sponsored by Chapter 701 (Boeing Leadership Association of Southern California.)

Our second place winner, and the recipient of a $1,000 prize is Soumya Kulkarni. Soumya was sponsored by Chapter 141 (Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Michigan.)

Our third place winners, and the recipients of $500 prizes are William Sheppard, and Alexandra Coronado. William was sponsored by Chapter 531 (Lockheed Martin Leadership Association – Marietta.) Alexandra was sponsored by Chapter 525 (Lockheed Martin Leadership Association – Palmdale.)

On behalf of the NMA Staff, I would like to thank all four of them for participating in our Speech Contest program. I think I speak for everyone in attendance, when I say that it was truly an honor to hear them speak. These students are among the brightest young minds, and the most talented speakers in the world. All four of them are destined to do great things. We trust that these prizes will help them afford to pursue their dreams.

We would also like to thank Toastmasters International for judging their speeches, and the NMA Chapters / Councils who make this competition possible by facilitating local Speech Contests.

Finally, we would like to thank everyone who made a donation to the Speech Contest Foundation this year. We couldn’t do it without you! The NMA Speech Contest Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to support next year’s contest. Click here to learn more.
