6 Frequently Asked Questions – 2017 Annual Conference

1. What should I wear?

During the daytime, most folks tend to wear “business casual.”

The evening banquets are more formal. For these events, many of our attendees will be wearing suits or sports coats (but of course, the choice is yours.)

Saturday’s “Executive of the Year Banquet” is “black-tie optional.” Many will be wearing dark suits, or tuxedos, or cocktail dresses. Remember, this banquet is held in the honor of an outstanding executive receiving our highest award. (In other words, you cannot overdress.)

2. What is there to do around the hotel?

Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa is situated directly on the beach! Take two steps out the back door, and there will be sand in-between your toes.

There are endless water sports to choose from, including parasailing, paddle boats, snorkeling and Wave-runner rentals. There are also two heated pools, including an infinity pool.

While you’re soaking up the sun, make sure to visit Tommy’s Tiki Bar. A fun, playful setting for your favorite drinks and light refreshments. The Tiki Bar is one of the few Clearwater Beach locations where you can receive service directly on the beach! Open from 11AM to sunset, weather permitting.

Pier 60 is a very short walk from the hotel. “Sunsets at Pier 60” are a tradition in Clearwater Beach. A breathtaking view of the sunset makes for a perfect way to celebrate the end of your day! There are also various forms of crafts and entertainment available every night from 6-9 pm.

Of course, there are a myraid of dining options. Click here to view nearby restaurants on Yelp. Although, with so much to choose from, you may still want to ask the concierge for some recommendations. Fun Fact: Clearwater Beach is the home of the original “Hooters,” which was appropriately incorporated on April Fool’s Day, 1983, when six businessmen with absolutely no previous restaurant experience got together and decided to open a place they couldn’t get kicked out of. (Full Story)

3. When did NMA start the Silent Auction?

We have not announced the details yet, but stay tuned for more information. We have some very cool items lined up for you to bid on. (Of course, proceeds support the Speech Contest.)

4. What is the theme for the Recognition Luncheon?

The theme will be “Recognition is always better on the beach!” In the spirit of the theme, feel free to wear your flip-flops, Hawaiian shirts, appropriate swim suits, etc.
