Join us Thursday, October 20 at Noon EDT for NMA’s monthly webinar series with Doug Wilhelm, Vice President, F-35 Deputy General Manager at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Fort Worth, Texas.

Wilhelm will discuss “Navigating Your Career Development.” In this Webinar, Doug will share career development recommendations based on lessons-learned and experiences gained throughout his own 39-year career, starting as an entry-level Electrical Engineer and progressing through to his current senior leadership role in the largest defense program in history.

At Lockheed Martin, he is responsible for driving program management excellence across all aspects of the F-35 Program, with a focus on affordability, efficiency, and effectiveness.

From 2015 through early 2021, Mr. Wilhelm served as Vice President, F-35 Customer Programs,
responsible for setting the strategic direction of all F-35 customer relationships and leading US Service, International Partner and Foreign Military Sales program teams in the delivery of an integrated set of F-35 capabilities across the product lifecycle.

Prior to that, he served as Director, International Programs, for Lockheed Martin Corporation’s Rotary & Mission Systems (RMS) business from 2009 until 2015. In that role, he was responsible for leading an organization that successfully implemented Aegis combat system programs in Japan, Korea, Spain, Norway, and Australia, as well as supporting numerous international surface naval business pursuits.

Throughout his career, Mr. Wilhelm has served in several other critical roles for Lockheed Martin Corporation, including Program Director for the proposal and successful capture of the Canadian Halifax Class Modernization Program, Program Director for Deepwater C4ISR system development for the United States Coast Guard and Program Manager for the Spanish F-100 Aegis Frigate program. Early in his career, he developed Combat System designs for the United States Navy’s DDG-51 class ships, performed electrical system designs for the Japanese Aegis ship program in Tokyo, Japan, and served as FMS program office liaison in Washington, DC.

In May 1983, Mr. Wilhelm graduated from Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He joined Lockheed Martin Corporation in June 1983.
